Monday QB

Two Of my favorite teams won this week. The Cowboys are 2-0 but lost Tony Romo for a while. Texas governor says Tebow is the answer.....No I think not. The Duke Blue Devils lost to the #23 Northwestern Wildcats after dominating most of the game. Turnovers and missed opportunities.
Now my Liberty Flames, with the big win against the #7 Montana Grizzlies. Liberty ranked #14 beat one of the best FCS teams in the country at home in front of a  record breaking crowd at Williams stadium. They got out to a 17-0 lead and then the defense took over. If it wasn't for the 2 blocked punts I don't think the Flames would have given up a touchdown. Look at the polls this week, Liberty might be ranked in the Top 10...we are hoping. Now they go on the road for 4 games.
Last week I won 5 out of my 7 fantasy games, this week it's ugly. I might lose every game, some of them are not even close. Some of it's just being unlucky but some is on me. Thank goodness it's early.

Book vs. Movie

I read quite a few books per year (or listen to them) and I am usually disappointed when the book becomes a movie. I just finished "The Girl On the Train" and read an article on IMDb (International Movie Database) about the screen play. They already have casted the three young women that will play the main characters. And the setting for the story. Of coarse I am very disappointed that they have changed two of the main premisses that the book relies on. The main character (Rachel) is a once beautiful, slightly overweight women in her late 20's. Emily Blunt is none of those. The book is set in London and the suburbs. The movie is going to be set in the U.S., probably New York. Once again the book is going to be so much better than the movie. Did you notice that they cast a British actress in the lead but are having the story take place in the U.S.
I make it a point to read the book before the movie comes out so I get the full character development and then the movie puts faces to all the characters. So I guess I will read "Martian" before I see that movie. The trailer for the movie looks very good. And I read the first chapter of the book and already had Matt Damon in my mind as the lead character. If you have seen the movie let me know what you think.
Tomorrow I might blog about my TV addiction. Hold on to your hats as I try to list all the TV series I "try" to watch.

Monday/Tuesday QB

My Liberty Flames won their first game against Delaware St., Saturday night, but it wasn't pretty. They had many drive ending penalties and the 2 scores that Del St. got were kept alive by Liberty penalties. If they play this poorly Saturday at West Virginia they could get blown out. It's tough enough playing a FBS team at their stadium. Try playing them when you're not playing your best. Morgantown is tough place to play for any team. I told my wife I wouldn't go to the WV game because the single ticket cost more than the season tickets cost for Liberty. Plus it's at least a 6 hour drive from my house.
Did everyone see the Braxton Miller "Spin-o-rama" in Monday night's game. I used that move in High School a lot. Saw Chuck Foreman do it in the 70's for the Vikings and that is one of the reasons I chose 44 as my number. (MIB44) If I tried that move now I would end up on my butt.
The Duke Blue Devils won their opening football game and UNC lost. That started my weekend off right. I will be going to Duke's home opening game this weekend. The nice folks at Duke University and Hospital have a family day each year for the employees. They feed you and your family and give you tickets to the game. They play the cross-town NC Central FCS team. Should be a win for the Blue Devils but you never know. If App. St. can beat Michigan like they did in 2007 then anything is possible.
The NFL starts this week, and all is well with the world. Me and my 7 fantasy teams go into the fray Thursday night. And I will partake in "one day" fantasy games also. I won a few duckets last year so why not. More later this week on the NFL and fantasy football.

Deflate a football?

Maybe "Deflategate" is over. The NFL looses again. Like I said all along a deflated football is not a big deal anyway. You can't throw it any better, much less tell the difference. Tom Brady will no be suspended. Hopefully this is all over. I'm tired of hearing about it.
College football starts tonight and I am stoked. The Tarwhiners play The Gamecocks in Charlotte. UNC better have improved from last year or they will be embarrassed. The SEC is quite a bit better than the ACC top to bottom in football. My Duke Blue Devils are in New Orleans playing Tulane. A much easier match up. BTW what is a "Green Wave". There are some great match ups this weekend all the way up to Ohio St. vs. Va Tech Monday night. I will be watching a lot of football including the Liberty Flames home opener in Lynchburg, VA. The wife and I will be in attendance Saturday night for the game against Delaware St.
